Struggle for Demanding Japanese Military Government During WWII Remains Unfinished

Japan has recently become the spotlight of various strategic elements in Indonesia. Japan’s past along with all its war crimes in the country have still now remained existing. Comfort women, so-called as “jugun ianfu” or sexual slavery imposed on Indonesia during the 1943-1945 period was the most controversial focus in the Launch and and Book Review titled Japanese Militarism and its War Crimes in Asia Pacific, written by Hendrajit and et al, on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Wisma Daria Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

“This book appearing in front of us all is to prove to the international world, that there have still been many the nation’s elements that remain committed to struggling for the rehabilitation and compensation for victims as a result of the Japan’s war crimes,” said Hendrajit, Executive Director of Global Future Institute, who is also author editor of the book at the scholarly forum which was attended by various elements of society. Jepang Memaksakan Peradaban Dengan Cara-Cara Yang Biadab

Meski baru pre-book launching, suasana bedah buku Japanese Militarism and its War Crimes pada Kamis 15 September 2011, berlangsung meriah dan praktis sudah seperti Launching Buku yang sebenarnya.  Hadir pada  berbagai kalangan masyarakat. Hadir dalam acara tersebut, Dr Koichi Kimura dari Pakar Jepang dari Universitas Seinan Gakuin dan Fukuoka yang merintis pertama kali kejahatan perang Jepang di Indonesia sejak 1992.  Eka Hindrati, peneliti independen tentang Ianfu Indonesia, wartawan senior dan pebisnis Nurman Diah, aktivis LSM dari Uplift Indonesia Faisal Hussein, pegiat Sosial-budaya Joko Koentono, staf senior Museum Kepresidenan Budianto, aktivis LSM Pipit Apriani dari Institute for Democracy, Politics and Human Right (Indepth Indonesia), dan Rahadi Teguh Wiratama, Direktur Divisi Demokrasi dan Perdamaian LP3ES.

Acara semakin semarak dengan kehadiran Aloysius Sugianto, mantan aparat intelijen (OPSUS) era Suharto yang juga dikenal peran sejarahnya pada 1975 dalam operasi komodo untuk penggabungan Timor Timur ke dalam wilayah Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia. Japan Imposing Civilization on Asian Nations through Un-Civilized Manner

Though it is still pre book launching, the seminar held was quite lively on Thursday(15/09). It was the same thing as the real book launching. It was attended by several prominent figures such as  Dr Koichi Kimura, Japanese Expert and lecturer of Seinan Gakuin and Fukuoka University, who pioneered the research retracing the Japanese War Crimes in Indonesia since 1992, Eka Hindrati, an independent researcher on Indonesian Ianfu, senior journalist and businessman Nurman Diah, Faisal Hussein,an NGO activist from  from Uplift Indonesia, social-cultural activist Joko Koentono, Budianto, senior staff of Presidential Museum, Pipit Apriani , an NGO activist from Institute for Democracy, Politics and Human Righat( Indepth Indonesia), Hadijoyo Nitimihardjo, a lecturer of Indonesian University, and Rahadi Teguh Wiratama, Division Director of Democracy and Peace of LP3ES. Remiliterisasi Jepang dan Makna Strategis Kunjungan Dr Koichi Kimura Ke Global Future Institute

Global Future Institute menerima tamu kehormatan, Dr Koichi Kimura, pakar Jepang dan staf pengajar Universitas Seinan Gakuin dan Fukuoka. Dr Kimura akan akan berbicara dalam forum yang diselenggarakan oleh Global Future Institute(GFI) dalam rangka Pre-Launching Buku bertajuk Japanese Militarism and its War Crimes in Asia Pacific.

Sebagai salah satu kontributor buku ini, Kimura yang juga aktif sebagai pastor pada Fukuoka International Church, akan membahas beberapa garis besar yang ditulisnya dalam buku tersebut, mengenai bagaimana sistem kekaisarah modern Jepang yang menjadi sumbu dari perpolitikan dan ideologi Jepang, pada perkembangannya telah menjadi sarana penindasan rakyat dari berbagai negara di Asia. The Resurgence of Japanese Militarism and the Strategic Meaning of Dr Koichi Kimura’s Visit at Global Future Institute

Today, we have the great honor to receive Dr Koichi Kimura, Lecturer of Seinan Gakuin and Fukuoka University. He will present his general lecture in front of the public forum held by Global Future Institute in conjunction with the pre-book pre launching entitled the Japanese Militarism and its War Crimes in Asia-Pacific.

As one of the principal contributor of our book, Kimura who is also active as Pastor at the Fukuoka University, will elaborate in more detailed, how the modern Imperial system, which had functioned as a political and ideological cornerstone for Imperial Japan, oppressed the various peoples of Asia, plunged them into poverty, and created a state of subjugation.

The background of the Imperial System will be important to examine the seeds of Japanese militarism since 1931. His visit to Indonesia, and GFI in general, has its strategic meanings in the light of understanding the possible resurgence of Japanese Militarism in the future. Read the rest of this entry
